32 Indirect emissions Indirect emissions (Scope 2) related to the purchase and consumption of electricity have been calculated using both the location-based and market-based approaches. As previously mentioned, the location-based methodology considers the average greenhouse gas intensity of the grids from which the energy is consumed, mainly using data on the grid’s average emission factor. In contrast, the market-based methodology considers emissions from electricity that the Organization has intentionally selected through specific contracts. During the last fiscal year, these values were 125 tCO₂e and 0 tCO₂e, respectively, since the total electricity purchased for 2024 (as in the previous two years) was covered by Guarantees of Origin and therefore sourced from renewable energy. It should be noted that the data provided by ISPRA are expressed exclusively in CO₂ and do not include other greenhouse gases in CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e). In the text, the unit of measurement CO₂e has been maintained to ensure consistency and clarity, also considering the negligible impact of greenhouse gases other than CO₂ in electricity production. As part of a continuous improvement approach and to ensure greater comparability of data, the values for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years have been recalculated using the most updated emission factors. The slight differences compared to the values reported in the previous sustainability report are therefore attributable to this recalculation.
