Sustainability Report 2023

P roc es s and p rod uc t innovation Osculati’s in-house production breaks down into 3 areas, simple assembly, heavy machining and packaging where 25 specialised workers make lights, beacons, ladders, gangways, battery detachers and many other products: T h e c omp any p ol ic y is b ased on th e d esire to concentrate maximum control over the entire production process by constantly monitoring all work p h ases, to red u c e p rod u c tion times and to resp ond flexibly to customer requirements. Articles are monitored step by step throughout the entire production process, from the individual components through to packaging, to ensure thorough quality control. For these reasons Osculati invests significantly in the modernisation of p roc esses and mac h inery . Specifically, in 2022, the company purchased a new horizontal Flow Pack packaging machine, capable of packaging items ranging from 18 cm to 1200 cm, for a total of about 400 items, more than 50 per cent of the items that are bagged. In addition, the thermal transfer p rinter instal l ed on th e mac h ine is ab l e to p rint d irec tl y on the reel all the information of the article inside, including the EAN code and the wording according to the disposal regulations, eliminating the need for the application of an additional label on the bag, thus facilitating its disposal. All the processes described, and the production and packaging set-up, are set up and designed by the company with an eye on environmental protection: The production lines are structured according to the principles of L ean M anuf ac turing: procedures are streamlined and brokend down by roles. Specifically, production planning is carried out by the office, which sends the picking missions to the warehouse, which, in tu rn, p rep ares th e trol l ey s w ith th e c ou nted c omp onents for the batch to be produced. The production worker at this point only has to exchange the empty trolley at his w ork station w ith th e new trol l ey and start p rod u c tion. What has been prepared during assembly and heavy machining is then passed on to packaging, which then has the task of inserting the produced articles into the Retail or Bulk packaging (depending on the article). The ready goods are finally sent out to the other warehouses. For Osculati, one of the greatest advantages of having an in-house production department is that it is able to have technical and practical support for the development and design of new articles.
