272/273 7. Hydraulics ▪ Reservoir weight reduction of 63% - 93% ▪ Huge reductions of up to 93% of required oil volume ▪ Smaller pump and suction lines can be used, significantly reducing installed system weight ▪ Higher system efficiency leads to increased hydraulic motor performance of up to 20% ▪ Stronger sheet winch and windlass pulls, and more powerful thrust can be achieved ▪ Superior pump protection with the removal of entrapped air ▪ Closed systems means no chance of air and oil mixing once the system is primed and commissioned The patent pending Vortex Hydraulic Reservoir actively removes air from a vessels hydraulic system during any hydraulic product operation using the internally created spiralling, high-speed vortex. As only a small amount of air remains entrapped in the oil, a smaller oil reserve is required - up to 95% less stored oil is required with a Vortex Reservoir. With minimal air in the system, hydraulic motor performance is improved by 20%. The unique internal flow pattern, created where the returned oil enters the reservoir, removes both free and dissolved air within the hydraulic system. Once the system is installed and bled, no air can be reintroduced into the system, therefore giving a higher performance between oil changes The bellow allows for thermal expansion of the system and acts as an oil reserve when cylinders are used. The small space envelope required for ‘Vortex’ means it will fit into boats as small as 40ft.
